Additional Information/Tips for Success
• Check the “C-mail” wall every so often.
• No “down time”—there is always something to do. Only boring people get bored.
• Check for the Daily Grind Info at the beginning of each class.
• This class will move fast. Keep up and think ahead.
• Have an abundance of energy.
• No one is better than anyone else. We are all different, but that’s what keeps life interesting.
• Take a risk. Allow yourself to be open and creative and maybe look a little silly at times.
• Stay on task, but have fun.
• If you are cold-natured, bring a jacket.
• Wear loose and comfortable clothing if possible. Inappropriate clothing is NOT an excuse not to participate.
• Consider being involved in a production (or two or more). You will probably like it more than you could ever imagine.
• Consider bringing a box of Klennex for the class. We are ALWAYS needing some, and since everyone tends to use them, we always run out.
• Advanced Classes: considering purchasing and keeping with you a jump drive. It’s a good investment. You can keep theatre files, forms, monologues, works in progress, etc. on it. You can also use it in other classes.
• Do well in your other classes so that you can participate in everything that you want to!

2. Rehearsal / Production Procedures
If you are chosen to be part of a show, you have been given the privilege of working with some other great students. Being part of such a venture is a lot of hard work and takes self-discipline. The rehearsals are important and provide our time together to get everything right.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
3. GRADING
Students in theatre classes will have various assignments (written work, monologues, projects, performances.) Major work will receive test grades. Minor work will receive daily grades. If a student does what is asked of him and keeps a good attitude, there is a zero possibility of his receiving any less than a very good grade each six weeks.

4. AUDIENCE ETIQUETTE
Actors and technicians put in an incredibly large amount of work to produce each show. As a result, it is nothing but right to audiences to live by a simple code of conduct when they come to watch a show.

If you are chosen to be part of a show, you have been given the privilege of working with some other great students. Being part of such a venture is a lot of hard work and takes self-discipline. The rehearsals are important and provide our time together to get everything right.
- Unless you just cannot help it, never miss a rehearsal.
- Unless there is a dire emergency, always be early for rehearsal. Use the few minutes before rehearsal to warm up.
- Be handy and available during the rehearsal, even if you're not on stage for a while.
- Never distract and goof around with actors and techs while they are actually rehearsing.
- Feel free to bring homework and other projects to work on while you are waiting to get on stage. If you have none, please be working on lines or examining the script.
- Be available and willing to work on sets, costumes, and props.
- Be willing to help with publicity.
- Keep up your grades in your other classes!
- Don't plays with equipment, sets, props, or costumes. Ever. No matter how enticing they look.
- ALWAYS bring your scripts and a pencil to rehearsal.
- ALWAYS write down your blocking and other notes.
- Excessive absences, several tardies, and an inappropriate/bad attitude are all grounds for being removed from a show.
- Support each other. Encourage one another. We are a family.
- Have fun. You're playing a role in creating someone really amazing!

4. AUDIENCE ETIQUETTE
Actors and technicians put in an incredibly large amount of work to produce each show. As a result, it is nothing but right to audiences to live by a simple code of conduct when they come to watch a show.
- Please arrive a few minutes early--before the show begins--if you can.
- Please try to use the restroom before the show begins. Leaving during a show is a distraction to others.
- NO photography or videography during the show. Taking photos or videos of a show is an actual crime.
- Please don't eat anything loud or distracting during the show.
- Please don't put your feet on the seat before you.
- Please don't climb over the seats.
- Men, please remove your hats or caps.
- PLEASE don't use your electronic devices during a show--to make calls, to receive calls, to surf the Web, to text, to use apps, etc.--for any reason. Even the glow from the screens distracts.
- Please find another place for very small children. More than likely, they cannot understand the show. If they can watch and pay attention, we want them to! If they are uneasy or uncomfortable, they should be elsewhere--for THEIR sake, for your sake, for the sake of the students in the play, and for the sake of the others in the audience.
- Please dress appropriately. A night at the theatre is a cultural event.
- Please don't talk/hold conversations during the show. It is extremely distracting to everyone else in the whole venue.
- Always stay until the end of the show and clap for the student actors/techs. They work hard on every project and earn the applause at the end.
